Book Marketing For Authors Blog 64- Having a Resource Page

Having a Resource Page

Done correctly, a Resource Page will add value to our followers and us. And it will save us some time, too. And we all want to save time, don’t we? Furthermore, time is money, right, my self-published indie authors?

You see, here is the thing, once we create some success in our authorpreneur business and build a following, people will ask us questions on how we do some of the things we do. Let’s not get annoyed by this. This is a good thing. These are the people of our tribe who will eventually go out and tell others how awesome we are if we treat them right. They will be like our own little sales team.

One of the keys to success for us authorpreneurs is engagement. In this situation, we actually have someone engaging us. So let’s not lose this opportunity to build this relationship and create a raving fan who will be one of our own people. This is a great opportunity to build relationships, and relationships are critical to our success. Trust me. We want to build relationships with everyone we can.

But, here is the challenge. We only have 24 hours in a day. And our to-do list seems to be growing by the day, doesn’t it? Day after day, we can’t seem to get done what we want to get done. And if we’re becoming more successful, then day after day we have more people contacting us to ask how we do some of the things that we do.

It’s not a good idea for us to turn them away. But, we just don’t have the time to give all of them a thorough answer on how we do what we do. So, what is our solution to this problem?

Well, here comes the “Resource Page” to the rescue. In the beginning, take the time you have to be one-on-one with people and answer their questions. But, when it becomes too much, a Resource Page can be a good substitute for that individual question and answer session that we had been personally doing.

If we are finding that we are getting the same several questions over and over, we can create a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document. Then we’ll just put it up on our Resource Page of our website.

Now, this doesn’t totally replace the one-to-one communications with us. However, it does make most people feel like we’re still trying to help them, even though we are crazy busy. Being available to them through a FAQ will also help build our relationships with them.

In addition, we could sprinkle in there somewhere that they can still contact us personally if our Resource Page didn’t answer their questions. This will help people think that they still have access to us. But at the same time, it drastically cuts down the number of people who are taking up a lot of our time asking us the same questions over and over again.

Another thing we could have on our Resource Page is a toolbox with all of our affiliate links. Remember, affiliate links are for products and services from others within our niche that really like and trust. These products and services continue to help us build our brand and help us work more efficiently and professionally.

Having this toolbox on our Resource Page will make it so we don’t have to remember our affiliate links. Whenever we need one, we know where they are. We can just copy and paste. When people ask us about them, we can send them to our Resource Page. And when people click on them and make a purchase, we make an affiliate commission fee. This is a great way to save time and make some money.

In addition, when people do go through our affiliate links, not only do we make some money, but we also become backlinks to the influencers in our niche. After a while, these influencers are going to like us more and more because we keep sending them business. This is a great way to build better relationships with the big boys and girls in our industry. And once that relationship with them is solid, who knows what doors could open for us…

Hey, the bottom line is that with a good Resource Page, we’re going to save more time and make more money. A good Resource Page helps us create relationships and add value to everyone’s life. When we add value, we become more successful and make more money. And that’s what we all want, right?
