This is a press release for my academia book on Evaluation of Professional Development!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NOVEMBER 27, 2016

Inner City Teacher Writes Book To Help Our Urban High Schools!

Centerville, UT- Daniel Blanchard is not only a 20-year veteran inner city teacher, he is also an award-winning author, speaker, educator, and parenting expert. A veteran who has served in the Army and Air Force, Blanchard recently completed and published a ground breaking book called, “Evaluation of Professional Development in an Urban High School.”

So what does he have to say about this?

“It’s hard. It’s extremely tough out there for our inner-city teachers and school leaders. Despite on-going professional development for urban educators, many inner-city school students are still not performing on high levels, or even grade level.

“This book is a practical guide to helping educators understand the innate difficulties of transferring expertise from the experts. Through the teachers and into the students in a meaningful way that demonstrates student learning, I’ve included many practical steps to make inner-city schools professional development sessions more successful.”

“I really hope this small contribution to our inner cities helps make them a little better of a place where students can achieve more success and educators can feel better about the progress they are making.”

Blanchard has been teaching in New Britain, Connecticut since 1996. His subjects include special education and regular mainstream education at all three levels of the elementary, middle, and high school. He has also coached football and wrestling, and sponsored a myriad of clubs for the students. Blanchard also was a team member of the recently released Social Studies Frameworks for the state of Connecticut, and has been appointed by the Speaker of the House to be on the Special Education Advisory Committee to the Connecticut State Department of Education. Furthermore, the American Federation of Teachers-Connecticut chose him as their “face and voice” of educational reform and have just asked him to go on a speaking tour to help inspire their teachers.

This is a press release for the recent keynote speech I did for the National Honor Society!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NOVEMBER 6, 2016

Dan Blanchard Speaks To The National Honor Society Students As The Keynote Speaker At Their Annual Conference About Inspirational Leadership!

Worcester, MA- Daniel Blanchard is the 20 year veteran teacher, and the award-winning author and speaker. He was featured on multiple television and radio shows last year for turning down $15,000 to give a leadership speech in South Africa because it was scheduled for the first day of the school year. This week Blanchard gave a dynamic speech at the National Honor Society’s Annual State Conference.

“I was really happy to be asked by the Massachusetts National Honor Society’s regional coordinator Amy-June Remy and the liaison and the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Administrators Association’s assistant director Art Dulong to speak at their annual conference. I knew the National Honor Society had formed in 1921 and had been doing some great things for our youth ever since. So I was proud to be given a chance to help out and be part of that winning team through contributing my hard-earned, unique and inspirational insights to their fabulous students and all the wonderful adults who work with them. Giving the keynote speech and the workshop that I did later in the day was a lot of fun. Everyone there made me feel very welcomed and were very appreciative of my insights and inspirational ways. It couldn’t have been a better day,” said Dan Blanchard

Dan Blanchard has been teaching in New Britain, Connecticut since 1996. His subjects include special education and regular education at all three levels of the elementary, middle, and high school. He has also coached football and wrestling, and sponsored a myriad of clubs for the students. A few years ago The American Federation of Teachers-Connecticut chose him as their “face and voice” of educational reform, and now have recently asked him to go on the speaking circuit with them to help inspire his fellow teachers all over the State of Connecticut. Dan has written multiple books on teen leadership, as well as an academia book on evaluating professional development, and writes a parenting column. I have made a lot of mistakes as an author, and I’m sure that I will continue to make many more. However, like my Granddaddy told me, we can all learn from our mistakes or we can learn from mentors. I know that mistakes will continue because they are inevitable. However, I want to be there as a mentor for Connecticut authors and publishers because it’s a little less painful for all of us to learn from mentors. Although we do learn a lot from mistakes, we all know that mistakes can be costly. I plan to visit as many Connecticut libraries, book stores and writers’ groups as I can and share with authors and aspiring authors what their publishing options are and then help them discover the best publishing route for them.”

This one that follows is a press release of me being appointed by the Speaker of the House to the Special Education Advisory Council to the Connecticut State Department of Education.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: OCTOBER 10, 2015

New Britain High School Teacher Appointed to the IEP Special Education Advisory Council in Connecticut

Pittsburgh, PA- Daniel Blanchard is a 20 year veteran teacher, who has taught both special education and regular mainstream education at all grade levels. Dan is also a parenting expert, certified life-coach, and columnist. Dan’s most recent accolade is that he has just been appointed to a seat on the IEP Special Education Advisory Council of the Connecticut State Department of Education, and endorsed for the seat by the American Federation of Teachers.

Dan Blanchard’s take on the appointment is this: “I am very excited that teachers will have a voice through my representation and service on this board.  I will be able to provide a platform for teachers and parents of special education students, as well as the students themselves, at the highest level in the State of Connecticut. I feel certain that special education students across the entire state are going to benefit from my involvement. I am in the trenches at school every day, and I have seen methods that work and those that fail.  I think my appointment to this seat is a victory for all teachers who want a real teacher to speak for them and to implement their ideas. Teachers care about their students, and will work tirelessly to promote what is best for those students.  It can be frustrating to teachers when their experience and expertise are not heard and/or valued, so I hope, through my service to this board, that I can speak for all teachers.”

Dan Blanchard has been teaching in New Britain, Connecticut, since 1996. His subjects include special education and regular education at all three levels of the elementary, middle, and high school. He has also coached football and wrestling, and sponsored a myriad of clubs for the students. Recently the American Federation of Teachers-Connecticut chose him as their “face and voice” of educational reform.

The following is a press release of me turning down a $15,000 talk!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AUGUST 24, 2015

Teacher Turns Down $15,000 Dream Talk So He Won’t Miss The First Week Of School Because Of His Dedication To His Special Education Students!

Pittsburgh, PA- Daniel Blanchard is not only a 20 year veteran teacher, he is also an award-winning author, speaker, educator, and parenting expert. Dan was thrilled to be offered $15,000 to give a leadership speech in South Africa, until he discovered that the speaking appearance was scheduled to be on the first day of school. So what was Dan to do?

“I was psyched that all my hard work had finally paid off.  I was going to be able to provide a platform for teachers and parents. Fifteen thousand dollars for delivering one speech is a dream come true. However, once I found out that this speech was going to take place the first week of school and it would take me away from my special education students. I just knew in my heart that I couldn’t accept the speech. The first face my special education students should see at the beginning of the school year should be mine, not a substitute teacher’s. And I think all teachers out there would agree with me on how important the first day of school is. Teachers care very much about our students; thus, we all work tirelessly for their well-being and development regardless of what we have to give up sometimes. In the end, I really don’t think that I did anything special here. I’m sure that if put in my shoes, all of the other teachers would have done the same thing. Hey, what can I say? Teachers are a hardworking and dedicated group.” said Dan Blanchard
