Victor, I know it’s difficult when we see people doing things that don’t make sense. That ignorance compounds dramatically and makes most of us especially angry when we see senseless things negatively affecting our youth.

I don’t know exactly what you’re referring to as ignorant because ignorance comes in many forms. I, however, like to believe as often as I can, that many people are not ignorant by choice. They just haven’t been shown any better yet, in a way that they understand, by a person they trust.

In contrast, though, as I’ve aged, even I, who was voted most optimistic back in high school, now know that some people’s ignorance is not so innocent. Some old dogs, and even young ones, don’t want to learn new tricks, even when it’s the intelligent thing to do.

Furthermore, we also are living in a time where people are having trouble agreeing on what the facts are and what the truth is. Today, one can’t stare at a screen for any length of time without someone shouting, “Fake News!”

So, what is the solution? Well, first and foremost is not to add to the problem. We need to educate ourselves to the best of our abilities. We need to carefully vet the sources of our information so we can have the best chance of getting truthful, and non-biased material. We need to respectfully question authority in order to help create deep, intellectual, common sense dialogue that matters and can truly make a difference in the world. Furthermore, we need to pick our friends and our social circles wisely so that we don’t get infected by bitter ignorance ourselves.

Victor, I know this doesn’t fully solve your problem of all the ignorant people out there, but at least it’s a start. And speaking of starts, make sure that you start with yourself by becoming the highest quality person you can become, while making the little circles you travel in on a daily basis better places.
