Dear Granddaddy, why do teens smoke marijuana? Karlay- curious teen.
Well, Karlay, to tell you the truth, I don’t know. But, according to a report that I just read by the Partnership at Drugfree.org, more teens are smoking marijuana with nearly 1 in 10 smoking at least 20 times or more a month. That seems like a lot to me.
And to tell you the truth, I was a bit surprised by this finding of mine because I had thought marijuana use had declined in the previous decade. It turns out upon further research that I was right. Marijuana use had fallen over the last decade. But now there is a spike…
So, why the sudden increase? Well, since I don’t know, I had to look it up to find out. According to the research I did, it says that some teens have graduated from video games to weed. Also, peer pressure plays a significant role in increased pot use. In addition, music videos glorify marijuana smoking. Parents working 60-hour weeks have no time to teach their kids how to deal with stress properly. Furthermore, the medical marijuana movement has indirectly given the teens a rational of it can’t be all bad… And some also say that there is an emptiness that is pervasive in these kids’ lives.
I’m not too proud to admit that I don’t know a lot about your question Karlay and that’s why I had to look it up. However, Karlay, what I do know is that my success and almost everyone else who I know who is successful has become successful because they really hustled and really worked for it. They didn’t just veg out trying to feed their munchies…Heck, some of the people I know work so hard pursuing their passions that sometimes they even forget to eat…
Well Karlay, I hope I enlightened you some with this article. I know that I have certainly learned a few things in writing this article. Also, hopefully I have encouraged you to pursue your passions and your dreams with all the energy you can muster up!
