Lawrence, is Fortnite your job? Do you get paid to play Fortnite? The reason I’m asking you is that usually when one does something for eight hours a day, it’s because it’s their job and they are getting paid to do it.

If you’re not getting paid for it, then I don’t know how you would even fit eight hours of Fortnite into your daily schedule. When would you sleep?  And please don’t tell me that you’d sleep in school. School doesn’t last long. And when it’s over, it’s over. Your chance to prepare yourself for life vanishes awfully fast, especially when you’re sleeping in class.

Lawrence, I imagine your mom told you that you can’t play Fortnite eight hours a day. And I’m guessing that you don’t agree with her, and wish you could. So, let me ask this of you, Lawrence. What do you get out of playing so much Fortnite? Do you have a goal? Is it going to somehow make your life better, or is it just for the entertainment and enjoyment? And if it is just for fun and pleasure, well then, remember this next time you’re trying to pull a Fortnite marathon: you really can eat too much candy. Regardless of how good candy tastes, it can still make you gain weight, make you sick, and rot the teeth out of your mouth. So what may be rotting from too much Fortnite?

And consider this, Lawrence: do you like it when others control you and tell you what to do? Did you know that addictions control people and tell them what to do? Did you know that Fortnite has engineered addiction into their games? Did you know that Fortnite is controlling you and telling you what to do?

Hmm… I’m guessing that someday you’ll want to be your own man, Lawrence. You probably want to grow up to be someone important, too, huh? Well, I don’t see Fortnite marathons helping you become that type of person. Do you?
