Well, Jessica, I’m not sure if it really comes down to a right. If you’re in college, I’m assuming you’re at least 18-years old, which means you’re old enough to begin making some of your own decisions. However, if you’re still living at home and still being supported by your parents, or they have been paying for your college, that is going to make your decision a little more complicated.

If you have a really good reason not to finish college like Bill Gates did when he dropped out, then you need to be responsible enough and adult enough to go to your mom and explain your unique situation to her.

Now, if you are all grown up and responsible, and are now able to think beyond the old school girl thoughts of, “I have a right” or “You have not right,” then you’ll probably also now able to realize that your mom probably isn’t just trying to put her, “I have a right” foot down. She’s probably concerned about your future and the future of her grandchildren.

If you can’t financially survive without your parents, and they have spent a lot of their money on your education, you need to consider this before you go and throw away their money.

If you’re about to start your own business that’s going to change the world for the better, then go for it and finish college later if you want. But, you need to help your parents understand how you’re trying to fulfill your dreams and that you have a real good shot at doing it through a different route than college.

Now, if you don’t have the next Microsoft Company in your back pocket, you need to think your next decision through. Jessica, it has nothing to do with rights. It comes down to making a good decision that will help you grow as a good person and provide for your future family. So, what are you going to do?
