Taylor, listen, I get it. I honestly do. We all want to have someone who will love us unconditionally. And for many of us, it seems like having our own baby will give us someone to love, as well as someone in our lives who will always love us back.
However, there is a problem here with that teenage philosophy of unconditional love, especially when you’re only fifteen years old. Taylor, I got married at twenty-eight years old and my wife and I had our first child when I was thirty-two years old. We were full grown adults with full grown adult jobs, paychecks, and capabilities.
However, regardless of how prepared we looked, having a full time baby to care for was one of the hardest things my wife and I had ever done, and there was two of us! Taylor, there are no guarantees that you’re going to have a teenage boy stand by you through thick and thin to help take care of a baby… My wife and I, even as a team, were maxed out in our responsibilities. What’s it going to be like if it’s just you?
And guess what? Getting a good education and a good job is going to be a lot harder to do if you’re a teenage mom. And even if you do somehow manage this, then keeping the job is also going to be very difficult. Good jobs are very demanding. Having a job and a baby won’t allow you much sleep. And when it comes to spending time with your friends, well, there just won’t be enough hours in the day to do it all, especially when you’re exhausted and can barely keep your eyes open.
Taylor, trust me when I tell you that you’re lovable just the way you are. And if you really want someone to love you, then why don’t you start with yourself. Love yourself and you’ll find one of the greatest loves of all.
