“Winners do what others WON’T so they can someday do what others DON’T!” was my reply to a whining teen today in school who was giving me all sorts of excuses.
“What?” was her response.
This time, I stared at her powerfully and purposefully, then repeated, “Winners do what others WON’T so they can someday do what others DON’T!”
“But it’s almost the holiday, and nobody is here! Do we really have to do work today?” continued the young teen, trying to be lazy.
“There’s not a lot of room at the top for a reason, you know!” I replied. “You’re here because you’re a winner! You’re here because you want to win in life! So let’s get to work and win!” I powerfully commanded the young girl with a smile running across my face.
She smiled too and got to work because she was a winner!
P.S. Woody Allen once said that showing up is half of the battle. I think he was right. So many people are trying to take the easy way out these days. I believe that if you just stop making excuses and do what you’re supposed to do when you’re supposed to do it, you’re going to win quite often…
